About

Our Purpose

Latino Allies began in September 2024 for the purpose of cultivating a culture within local churches that is joyfully intentional about learning from and responding to the spiritual, relational, cultural, physical, and emotional needs of Latinos in the community. We quickly realized there was a lot of work to be done if we wanted to authentically connect with the Latino community, especially after the new administration began in January 2025. We're committed to doing the work to create communities where Latinos are welcome, safe, and valued.

Our Approach

(1) Cultivate meaningful relationships with people of peace in the Greater Cincinnati Latino community, especially in Covington. Right now, this looks like accompanying people to hearings, volunteering for Latino-led events, getting to know our neighbors.
(2) Advocate for their needs, presence, and empowerment in predominantly white churches.

Our Why

As members of the Covington community, we have a vested interest in seeing our neighbors thrive. We value our Latino neighbors and want this community to be safe and welcoming for them.

As Christians, we persist because we are commissioned by God to love the foreigner, widow, and orphan. (Read Heb. 12:2, Micah 6:8, Matt 25:35-40, Zech. 7:9-10, Jere. 7:5-7, Deut. 17-19, and many others.)

As members of the Vineyard movement, reconciliation, diversity, compassion are part of our DNA. Vineyard Core Beliefs state that “...we are committed to becoming healing communities engaged in the work of reconciliation…a diverse community precisely because Jesus is Lord over every nation, tribe, and tongue. We are not satisfied with the status quo when it doesn’t reflect this kingdom reality…We lean toward the lost, the poor, the outcast, and the outsider…”
